Susan B. Anthony Day is a commemorative holiday celebrating the birth of Susan B. Anthony and women’s suffrage in the United States.
It was first introduced in 2011 by New York Representative Carolyn Maloney to the 112th session of Congress. Though the bill was not passed, several states still honor Susan B. Anthony and women’s suffrage in the U.S.. Susan B. Anthony was an American social reformer and women’s rights activist who played a pivotal role in the women’s suffrage movement.
It’s observed in Florida, California, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, and West Virginia. Most celebrate this day on February 15th, Anthony’s birthday. Massachusetts celebrates it on August 26th and West Virginia on election day.
