On a beautiful October day, the Jackson School celebrated Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day with breakfast, a prayer service, music performances by grade, and classroom visits. More than 200 guests attended, some from as far away as Oregon, Texas, Michigan, and Florida.
Teachers and students showcased a variety of programs. One class of students engaged their guests in interviews asking questions about their childhood school life. One girl skyped her grandparents in Italy during this time. Grandparents participated in spot quizzes; art, literature, science projects; and story-telling in a Spanish class. Classrooms pulsed with energy, laughter, and diverse languages being spoken as the two generations enjoyed time together.
